A weekend at Willunga/Port Willunga. It's 5mins from McLaren Vale wine region and the Port Willunga beach would be close to the most scenic in Adelaide. New restaurants - Russell's Pizza and Hither & Yon in Willunga, and the famous Star of Greece in Port Willunga - are top shelf.
I haven't had the opportunity to visit many of the areas around Adelaide as when we come over we tend to stay with my mother in law in Burton but I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks with my brother in law and his wife in Riverton. Riverton is a real sleeping beauty. It has an abundance of heritage buildings and the easy heritage trail walk is a delight. There is a wonderful picnic area and easy trail walk at the Duck Ponds (Gilbert River), a public golf course, a swimming pool, coffee shop, and two craft and second hand shops. The Riverton Hotel makes lovely meals for lunch and dinner and has a small pokies room. For the walkers there are several walking trails of varying lengths and the town and surrounds are a bird watchers paradise. Macaw Creek Olive Oil has cellar door sales and in town there is wonderful art to see at the Riverton Light Gallery. The is a caravan park in lovely surrounds and accommodation is available at both hotels. It was so peaceful and claming I cn;t wait to go back.
I havr a weekend at Henley Beach. it's around 20 min wast of the Adelaide city center.
Henley Beach have Henley Square is here a popular Adelaide dining spot, offering fine cafes and restaurants maybe tried and tested fish and chips on the grass.
Dine outdoors while you watch the sun set over the ocean.
At Henley Beach have the Henley Beach's long jetty, you can bring along the fishing rod and try your luck. The lapping waters are ideal for families or friends.
